Pilot: Baggio
|
The neighbourhood
Baggio is a district of Milan located in the western suburbs of the city. It remains marginalised by the city because it is not easy to reach with public transport. From the perspective of the citizens of Milan, Baggio is a dormitory district. The neighbourhood remains popular because of its character, although the construction of new residential complexes and the increase of facilities has allowed the neighbourhood to be more socially mixed, encouraging the entry of many new families. This has helped Baggio improve its reputation. |
In December 2020, a pilot project, called #baggiodaimieimiocchi, was launched in the Baggio neighbourhood. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to adapt all the live, in-person activities to a digital format, allowing The Tree of Life to obtain permission to start the programme. The participants in this neighbourhood received a tablet from the foundation during the months of quarantine to continue their studies from home, a resource that we were able to take advantage of so as not to impact on their participation.
Twelve adolescents aged 11–13 took part.

#baggiodaimieiocchi exhibition / June 2021
After obtaining authorisation from the municipality, the photographs were exhibited on a wall under a bridge in the district by attaching the photographs, printed on paper, directly onto the wall using glue. Given the large dimensions of the space, the photographs were printed in A4 and A3 formats. Up to 50 people attended the event. |
