The neighbourhood
This wide district is the second most populated of the city and is characterised by many abandoned areas; it is isolated and far from the centre of Naples. The precarious socioeconomic conditions have led to the explosion of organised crime that finds fertile ground for all its trafficking. Factors such as organised crime represent an obstacle to the development of the neighbourhood and control a considerable amount of illegal work (The Tree of Life ONLUS, 2012). The multi-problematic situation in the neighbourhood is connected to an elevated school dropout rate, which in elementary school classes is around 35% (The Tree of Life ONLUS, 2012). |
Fourteen young people aged 7–12 participated.
#ponticellidaimieiocchi exhibition / 02 July 2021
In Naples, the photographs were exhibited in the Communal Garden of Ponticelli, where the foundation already does some activities. A large-scale photo of each child was printed, arranged on a stick and then displayed along the wall available in the space. The rest of the selection, on 10x15 cm prints, was hung inside a tent set up on site. |
