AMASS Seminar
Art and culture on the edge, art and culture on the margins
2 November 2022 | Prague, Czech Republic
With pleasure, The Slovak National Gallery invites you for a seminar
Art and culture on the edge, art and culture on the margins
One of the basic goals of gallery education is making art accessible. This accessibility will be the essence of our seminar, where Doc. PhDr. Marie Fulková, Ph.D. from the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Pedagogy at Charles University in Prague, will present experiences from the international project Horizon 2020 AMASS (Acting on the Margins: Arts as Social Sculpture). The project focuses on exploring the creative and liberating potentials of art in the education of marginalized and disadvantaged individuals.
This seminar will introduce educators and the public to the inclusive and collaborative tendencies of art, in the education of young visitors, particularly children with special needs. In the field of gallery/museum education, two case studies will be presented: "Glass is a treasure! Children from the inclusive school Cimburkova, in Prague 3, which was held at the Pleiades of Glass exhibition, UPM Prague." and "Cutting for a new age: a collaboration between the Primary School for the Deaf and the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Prague".
The meeting will take place in the Kornel and Naďa Földvári Library in the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. with a break for lunch.
In December, we would like to follow up the meeting with Vendula Fremlova and Magdalena Novotna, and discuss in depth their work with Roma children.
